Did You Know You Can Describe an App and Watch It Get Built?
The short answer
AI Build Studio lets you describe what you want — a landing page, a simple internal tool, a dashboard — in plain conversation, and see a working draft appear the same day. It's genuinely useful for testing an idea fast, without committing to a full project before you know if it's worth building. It's not a finished, secure, production-ready system on its own. When an idea is real enough to put in front of paying customers, that's when we take it into a proper build.
The scene
You've had an idea for months. Maybe it's a simple tool for tracking jobs, a landing page for a new service line, or a small dashboard your team keeps asking for. It never gets built, because "build a custom app" sounds like a six-month project and a conversation you don't have time to start.
Now imagine describing that idea in a chat window this afternoon and seeing an actual working version of it by dinner. Not a mockup — something you can click through, test, and show your team. That's the shift. The barrier between "idea in your head" and "something on a screen" got a lot shorter.
The catch, and it's an honest one, is that a fast prototype and a system your business depends on are two very different things. We LOVE this new layer of speed. We also know exactly where it stops being enough.
How it actually works
1. You describe what you want. In plain English — what the tool should do, who uses it, what it should look like. No technical spec required to get started.
2. A working draft appears. The system builds an actual functioning version — a page, a simple app, a dashboard — usually within the same session, so you're reacting to something real instead of a written proposal.
3. You iterate by talking to it. Change the layout, add a feature, adjust the flow — again in plain language, refining the draft until it actually resembles what you had in mind.
4. When it's ready to matter, we take it into production. A promising prototype moves into a proper Thin Air build — hosting, security, backups, and the ongoing support that turns a sketch into something you'd actually put your name and your customers' trust behind.
What it costs, and what it can't do
Trying it is free to start, with a daily allowance built in — enough to prototype real ideas without paying anything upfront. If a project needs more capacity than that, we'll line-item it when you're ready, and we'll tell you plainly if extra capacity is actually worth it for what you're building.
Here's the honest limit. A prototype is not a substitute for a supported, secure, production system — it doesn't come with the backups, security hardening, or 24/7 monitoring that something customers depend on actually needs. Daily usage is finite, and it resets — heavy or complex builds can run into that limit. And this is a fast-moving, relatively new kind of tool; capabilities and behavior can shift. Anything mission-critical to your business still needs a real, supported build behind it, not a credit meter and good intentions.
Who this is a good fit for
A good fit if: – You have an idea you want to test before committing to a full project – You want to show your team or a partner something real instead of a written description – You're comfortable with "prototype," not "finished product," as the starting point – You already work with us (or want to) for the production build once the idea proves out
Probably not yet if: – You need something live for paying customers right now, with no room for a prototype phase – The idea already involves sensitive customer data or payments — that needs a properly secured build from day one, not a sandbox – You're hoping this replaces hiring a team permanently rather than speeding up the first step
How we'd set it up for you
Consult — we talk through the idea, whether a fast prototype makes sense as the first step, and what "done" would actually need to include for production.
Create — we sit down together and build the prototype, or you bring us one you've already started, and we help push it further or evaluate what it's missing.
Support — when it's time to go live for real, it becomes a proper Thin Air build with hosting, security, and a Care Plan behind it — the part that turns a good sketch into something durable.
We've spent more than 20 years turning ideas into real, working software and websites, across over 500 completed projects, with about 75% of our customers staying with us 10 years or more. Everything we host runs under 24/7 monitoring. We LOVE the moment an idea goes from a sentence to something clickable — and we're just as serious about what it takes to make that idea last.
Is this the same as a finished website or app?
No. It's a fast way to prototype and test an idea. Production-ready work — security, hosting, ongoing support — is a separate, necessary step before customers should rely on it.
Do I need any technical skill to try it?
No. You describe what you want in plain language, the same way you'd explain it to a person.
What happens if I run out of daily capacity?
You can pick back up the next day, or we can talk about what additional capacity would actually cost for a bigger build — only if it's genuinely worth it for your project.
Can this replace hiring Thin Air for a real project?
For a genuine business tool or customer-facing product, no — and we'll tell you honestly when that's the case. Think of it as the sketch pad. We're still the shop that builds the real thing.
